Spelling Bee Solver

Type today's seven letters. Make the centre letter the only capital, and every word those letters can spell is listed longest first.

Example: Abcdefg means A is the centre letter. Do not turn the whole word into capitals. If a letter appears twice in the puzzle, type it twice.

How this solver reads the puzzle

A Spelling Bee answer is at least four letters long and must include the centre letter. A pangram uses every different letter you typed. Those are marked in gold. Words from the familiar list are marked in blue. Every other word is still spellable from your letters; it is just less common.

The check uses the same 222,687-word list as the anagram solver and runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server. This tool is not the official puzzle list, so a real English word can be missing, and a listed word may not be accepted by the puzzle.

Frequently asked questions

Does this give away the whole puzzle?

It can. If you want a hint only, read the shorter groups and stop there.

Why is a word I know missing?

The list comes from public-domain and openly licensed sources. A few obscure words and proper names are not in it. A word that is in the list can still be rejected by the official puzzle.

What do the colours mean?

Gold means the word uses every different letter you typed. Blue means the word is on the familiar list. No colour means the word can be spelled, but it is not on that familiar list.

Is this affiliated with any newspaper?

No. This is an independent tool. It does not copy a newspaper puzzle. You type your own letters.
